Julie's Bio:
Julie is a New York City-based freelance musician and trombone doubler. Versatile in Classical, Jazz, Big Band, Broadway, Pop, R&B, and Funk styles, and a doubler of Bass Trombone and Euphonium in addition to tenor trombone, Julie enjoys playing in a variety of different settings including pit orchestras, stage bands, symphony orchestras, big bands, wind ensembles, and more!
Julie is currently subbing for Jennifer Wharton on The Great Gatsby on Broadway. In 2022-23, Julie played a successful year-long tour with the Fiddler on the Roof National Broadway Tour playing Trombone and Euphonium. Performing in 35 different states, Julie had an amazing experience bringing the timeless music and story of Fiddler to audiences across the USA and Canada. When they returned to NYC, Julie made their Broadway Debut subbing on Sweeney Todd on Broadway in June 2023 and has also been playing on Papermill Playhouse's Fiddler on the Roof, After Midnight, and Beautiful: The Carole King Musical in addition to other freelance work all over NYC.
Julie is so thrilled to be involved in the live music scene in NYC. Julie has performed in Drunk Musicals, the International Pride Orchestra, The Basement Mixtape at Feinstein's/54 Below, Off Broadway show Goodbye New York, Lulada Club, Brass Queens, Calliope Brass, Alphabet Brass, Target NYC Fashion Week, Parlando NYC, Korean National Choir Orchestra, and the BMF Symphony Orchestra. Julie has appeared as a featured soloist on Rosa Parks Boulevard with the Montclair State University Wind Symphony and on We've Only Just Begun with Imperial Brass. Julie has performed at the Blue Note, National Sawdust, The Cutting Room, Groove, David Geffen Hall at Lincoln Center, and Merkin Hall. They have performed alongside Josh Groban, Jeremy Jordan, Gaten Matarazzo, Imani Winds, Paquito D'Rivera, Sheila E, Christian McBride, Burt Mason, James Blachly, and Jennifer Wharton.
Julie held the trombone chair in the pit orchestra at the College Light Opera Company from 2017-2019 and had the opportunity to play over 30 musicals under a wide array of successful conductors, ranging from Broadway to national tours to orchestral conductors.
Julie studied at the John J Cali School of Music at Montclair State University where they studied with Jennifer Wharton and Mike Boschen. Julie holds their Bachelor of Music in Trombone from Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University where they studied with Noreen Baer and learned from musicians in the New York Philharmonic and the Metropolitan Opera.
Julie has performed in masterclasses for Wynton Marsalis, Marshall Gilkes, and Joe Alessi.
